Unzip the 7z archive into any working ppsspp folder I've included both 32 and 64bit Windows executables. Still, here's one for those who're interested. I can compile a special build based on the newest master that omits that specific commit for those who're interested but there's not much point in doing that since I'd have to constantly update it to add in the newer updates that are regularly being added onto the emulator on a daily/sometimes hourly basis. The regression is due to this specific commit which was intended to fix another game.

Phantasy Star Portable still has that issue with dialogue text not appearing correctly though.įirstly, reset all settings to default by deleting the ppsspp.ini file generated in the ppssppmemstickPSPSYSTEM folder, and allow the emulator to generate a new one by loading it up again. Make sure you have the Performance set to High for the laptop and that no CPU/GPU throttling is going on (use GPUz and CPUz/HW Monitor (for temps) to monitor GPU and CPU clocks respectively) while running the emulator.įor the record, I've got those two games running smoothly on my much more inferior laptop running a Core 2 Duo and Mobility Radeon 4670 on Windows 7 SP1 圆4. Those specs should be more than enough to power through those two games and indeed the emulator.

What Catalyst drivers are you using for that Mobility Radeon 5800 card? The newer OpenGL drivers bundled with the latest drivers may not necessarily be the best ones for older AMD/ATI cards, but seeing that you're on Windows 8.1, you may not have a choice in the matter.ĥ. Ensure that Low Latency Audio is disabled. When the audio stuttering occurs, are you still getting 100% on the FPS/Speed counter?ģ. Enable the "Show FPS Counter" option in the Graphics Options and set it to "Both" (Settings -> Graphics).

Which build are you using? The official 0.9.6 or the ones from the buildbot page? When in doubt, always update to the latest ones on that page and try again.Ģ. Or just copy and paste the contents of this ppsspp.ini file I generated which works perfectly for me.ġ.

Secondly, refer to this rather comprehensive guide that I wrote up some time ago on the forums, it should help out.

Any suggestions on how I should setup the emu?įirstly, reset all settings to default by deleting the ppsspp.ini file generated in the ppsspp\memstick\PSP\SYSTEM folder, and allow the emulator to generate a new one by loading it up again. So I'm trying to play some games (Phantasy Star Portable and Valkyria Chronicles 2) and I'm getting stuttering, choppy audio and performance.
